« Entrepreneurship is in fashion ! »

L'entrepreneurship is an emerging theme
in Europe and the rest of the world. In ratifying the Lisbon Strategy in 2000, 12 European Union members made entrepreneurship a major lever in its hypercompetitive economy and the European Commission has since been encouraging its promotion in Member states. Symposiums, festivities, entrepreneur competitions, the publication of a catalogue of good practices... make for an ever-increasing number of initiatives. Events - such as the European entrepreneurship day organised in 2008 by Finland - rally people to the cause. Great numbers of business founders and entrepreneurs are becoming aware that they are not alone, being able to count on the support of an entire network. Reaching further than the "serial set-up" target group, these actions are even infuencing integration into the world of work; the Make Your Mark campaign in the United Kingdom has encouraged young people in entrepreneurship, includind at the heart of current businesses. In order to make entrepreneurship even more attractive, the latest applicable tools such as speed dating and Facebook have been used in campaigns! Over time, events have increased in number and scale, much like Global entrepreneurship week, mobilising entrepreneurs and students worldwide. The visibility given to entrepreneurship by these events in undeniable and their impact can be measured precisely throughout the world thanks to the Global entrepreneurship monitor. Entrepreneurship is coming back into fashion!

Every year, since 2005, the Prix Européen de l’Esprit d’Entreprise has been making it possible to identify and recognise fruitful activities and initiatives designed to promote business and the entrepreneurial approach. It is also the opportunity to present and share examples of policies and efficient practices in the area of entrepreneurship. Finally, its aim is to gain greater knowledge of the role played by entrepreneurs in society and encourage potential entrepreneurs.

Speakers:

Enterprise Week is participating in Global Entrepreneurship Week which has become a national celebration of enterprise with thousands of events throughout the United Kingdom. In 2008, Global Entrepreneurship Week is becoming an unrivalled business celebration worldwide, MAKE YOUR MARK is a national campaign to unlock enterprise potential and raise the awareness of young people to the new societal challenges and aims to create an entrepreneurial culture to support project creators and bearers.

European entrepreneur days were initiated by the European Commission in 2000. Since 2003, the Turku region in Finland has sought to be a driving force of entrepreneurship in Europe, by reinforcing its links with the territories of Finland and Europe during festive activities. These entrepreneurial days are actually developing throughout Europe in this entertaining form of generating the awareness of the general public and professionals to entrepreneurial themes.

The World Entrepreneurship Forum is a significant think tank with an international dimension devoted to the entrepreneur and his role in society. In Evian in 2008, this event brings together 70 international personalities: entrepreneurs, men and women of world politics, philosophers, etc., who share this belief in an Entrepreneur, creator of economic wealth and social justice.
